Clashes Ongoing Between Two Armed Groups Between Kamaing and Nam Yar, Hpakant Township

It has been reported that fighting broke out between the military council forces and the KIA allied forces in the area between Kamaing and Nam Yar in Hpakant Township.
Since 6:00 a.m. on June 24, clashes have occurred between the KIA and the military council allied forces in Um Kathaung village, located between Kamaing and Nam Yar, and it is known that the fighting is ongoing up to the present time.
The fighting broke out as the military council troops, who had moved out from the strategic Kamaing hill, along with nearly 80 allied People’s Militia Forces, began military operations to station themselves between Kamaing and Nam Yar, resulting in a confrontation with the KIA forces.
It is reported that the military council columns have now reached Um Kahtawng village, and both sides remain engaged in tense military activities.
Since May 24, intense clashes have occurred between the military council forces and the KIA along the Kamaing–Hpakant road, causing local residents from the area to flee to safer places, and they remain displaced up to the present time.
