Residents who are returning from displacement camps to their original hometowns are calling on the relevant authorities to open clinics and implement relevant health projects in their villages, according to local sources.

Although people are returning to their villages to rebuild their lives and promote local development through self reliance, villagers say there are still no stable clinics or proper facilities within the villages.

For healthcare needs, residents currently have to travel to towns for treatment, which is difficult due to poor and challenging road conditions. As a result, locals are urging the relevant authorities to establish health projects and arrange clinics within the villages, said a resident.

Since 2024, following town capture battles by KIA led joint forces, some local residents have begun clearing land and returning to areas that have come under control. However, elderly people and those with health conditions have not been able to return yet due to the lack of adequate healthcare facilities in the villages. Some displaced people also remain stranded in displacement camps up to the present time.

Those who have returned home are still traveling to Myitkyina and Laiza, as well as other areas such as Mai Ja Yang and Muse, to seek medical treatment.

At present, apart from small clinics opened by religious organizations in villages in the return areas, there are no government arranged clinics in operation, it is reported.
