Due to the resurgence of COVID-19 infections, the Kachin State Ministry of Health is providing COVID-19 vaccinations in schools in Myitkyina, according to students.
“Because COVID is getting worse again, they’re coming to schools to administer vaccines. It’s good that they’re providing them here. Students don’t have to miss school and go to hospitals to get vaccinated, which is much more convenient,” said a Grade 12 student.
The Kachin State Ministry of Health office began administering COVID-19 vaccines in schools starting June 5. It has been reported that vaccinations have already been completed at No. (5) Basic Education High School.
Currently, as COVID-19 infection rates are rising again in Myanmar, relevant authorities are providing vaccinations within school compounds for convenience.
Additionally, the Myitkyina General Hospital is also offering COVID-19 booster shots, urging the public to get revaccinated as necessary.
COVID-19, which first emerged internationally in December 2019, spread rapidly among people of all ages and was once considered a highly concerning disease.
However, Myanmar’s Ministry of Health has since reclassified COVID-19 from a global pandemic to a seasonal flu-like disease that circulates regularly within communities. As such, the public is advised to continue adhering to health guidelines.
