Although the battle for control of Banmaw town has lasted for over six months, intense fighting has subsided compared to earlier periods. However, daily airstrikes and drone attacks by the military council continue, according to the Banmaw Scout Team, which reports news from the area.
The military council is reportedly carrying out airstrikes and drone attacks almost every day. Taking advantage of the current flooding, the military is also conducting troop movements and operations, sources say.
Additionally, Y-8/Y-12 aircraft are being used to reinforce weaponry and manpower, and efforts are being made to deliver more arms and troops via waterways as well.
As a result, residents of villages along the Irrawaddy River are being urged to stay informed and make necessary preparations in advance, the report added.
In recent days, airstrikes and heavy artillery fire, as well as drone attacks by the military, have been carried out in Zin Kin village on the opposite bank of Banmaw, resulting in the deaths of two civilians.
The battle for control of Banmaw town, involving the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied forces, has now entered its seventh month since it began at the end of June.
