Displaced People in Urgent Need of Assistance Due to Strong Storm Winds

It is reported that internally displaced persons (IDPs) are in need of assistance after strong storm winds that struck at around 9:00 PM on April 25 caused damage to their shelters in Myitkyina, Namti, and Mogaung towns in Kachin State.
Due to the impact of the storm, shelters of IDPs in Myitkyina, Namti, and Mogaung were damaged, and some residential houses of local people also had their roofs blown off.
The affected IDPs are those living in an IDP Camp inside the Namti Sugar Factory compound and Waing Awng IDP Camp in Namti, where many displaced people from Hpakant are residing.
As a result of these damages, it is learned that urgent assistance is needed for the displaced persons, including tarpaulins and emergency support for the damaged shelters.
