In Myanmar, due to fuel shortages, some express delivery services are no longer allowing the transportation of items weighing more than 5 kilograms or packages larger than one cubic foot, according to online sellers.
At present, due to the fuel crisis, deliveries must be carried out by bicycle. As a result, transporting items weighing more than 5 kilograms has become difficult, and only packages up to 5 kilograms are now permitted for delivery.
“I called them this morning, and they said items over 5 kilograms can no longer be delivered. When I asked why, they explained that due to fuel shortages, they have to deliver goods by bicycle, and carrying very heavy items is not convenient,” said an online seller.
Traders are also facing difficulties, as they now have to pack their goods into parcels weighing no more than 5 kilograms and within one cubic foot in size. This has led to higher transportation costs, making it more challenging for them.
“Previously, we could pack everything into one box when sending goods. Now that it cannot exceed 5 kilograms, we have to use more boxes, and the delivery fees have also increased,” the same person added.
Currently, fuel prices in Myanmar continue to rise day by day. In Myitkyina, Kachin State, the price of 92-octane fuel has exceeded 13,000 kyats per liter.
