Since the outbreak of fighting in the Waingmaw area, travel on the Myitkyina-Laiza-Bhamo road has been blocked, forcing most travelers to use the Nangzaw detour route. However, due to heavy rains, the Nangzaw road has become severely damaged, making travel extremely difficult, according to travelers.

The Nangzaw road is mainly used by large banana trucks, cargo trucks, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) returning home. Recently, heavy rains have made the road very rough, causing significant travel difficulties.

As a result, drivers and banana trucks have become stranded along the route, with some forced to spend two nights on the journey, facing great hardship, according to a traveler.

"Recently, it's become impossible to travel. What used to be a three-hour trip by motorcycle now takes about six hours. You have to squeeze through the jammed cargo and banana trucks. Now, with many IDPs returning home, both vehicles and motorcycles are stuck," the traveler added.

Additionally, IDPs returning home via the Nangzaw route are also facing difficulties transporting their belongings due to the poor road conditions.

On top of these challenges, both the military council and allied alied militia have set up checkpoints along the road, collecting money from travelers, reportedly up to the vicinity of the Maina IDP camp.

At the checkpoints near Maina IDP camp, military council allied local militia are said to be collecting 700,000 kyats per banana truck and at least 50,000 kyats per cargo truck.
