In Myanmar, a total of 112 people from the education sector, including teachers and students, were killed during the year 2025 due to violent attacks by the military junta, according to a statement released by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
Out of the 112 fatalities, AAPP has been able to confirm the identities of 96 individuals. Among those confirmed, 47 were women and 49 were men, while the remaining 16 victims have not yet been verified, the statement said.
According to AAPP, 80 out of the 112 deaths in the education sector were caused by airstrikes carried out by the military. The military junta forces have been continuously conducting aerial bombardments not only in areas where fighting is taking place but also in areas with no active clashes across Myanmar, sources said.
