Eight Civilians Injured and Five Killed in Kachin State Due to Military Commission and Unknown Armed Group in November

During the month of November in Kachin State, ( civilians were injured and (5) were killed due to human rights violations, according to a statement released yesterday, December 1, by the Kachin Human Rights Monitoring Group.


According to the report, these human rights violations were committed intentionally by the military commission and an unidentified armed group, who fired heavy and small weapons at civilians.


Among the incidents, Hpakant Township saw the highest number of casualties, caused by the military commission’s reckless use of heavy weapons, airstrikes, and drone attacks. On November 20, a two year old child was killed and (5) others were injured in Sang Tawng Village due to indiscriminate shelling by the military commission.


Although no fighting occurred between the two sides, the military commission carried out reckless shelling, drone attacks, and airstrikes. As a result, civilians were killed not only in Hpakant but also in other areas on a daily basis.
