Elderly Woman from Lawa Village Raped by Min Zay Thant Militia Forces

An elderly woman from Lawa Village, located along the Myitkyina–Hpakant Road, was reportedly raped by members of the Min Zay Thant militia force.

According to local sources, the incident occurred around 5:00 AM on July 28. An elderly woman from Lawa-Lagon Village was assaulted near the Lawa junction area, where troops from the Min Zay Tant People's Defense Force had set up camp.

The victim has been identified as Daw Hpuyam Hkawn Nan, a 60 year old woman. It is reported that while she was at home, members of the Min Zay Thant armed group broke in and committed the rape.

Since March of this year, joint forces of the Military Council and local Militia Forces have entered Lawa Village, engaging in military operations. Skirmishes have been occurring frequently, and local civilians have been fleeing to nearby areas for safety.
