It has been learned that the Election Commission has instructed its subordinate commissions to take immediate action and arrest anyone who makes statements or posts on social media alleging that the electronic voting machines produced for the upcoming election are inaccurate, capable of fraud, or susceptible to manipulation.

The nationwide general election scheduled for December 28 this year will use electronic voting machines across the entire country. At least fifty thousand of these machines are expected to be used, according to reports. These electronic voting machines are mainly produced under the direction of the military council. The Election Commission claims that it is impossible to manipulate these machines for vote rigging or fraudulent purposes. Therefore, any statements or social media posts alleging that the machines are inaccurate or that vote fraud is possible will be investigated and subject to legal action.

In addition, during the election period, if anyone falsely complains that the voting machine displayed the name or symbol of a candidate other than the one they actually voted for, they could face up to three years of imprisonment, a fine of 300,000 kyats, or both penalties, as stipulated in the election laws.

The Election Commission has also reiterated that only electronic voting machines will be used in the coming general election on December 28, and that these machines are precise, accurate, and free from any form of manipulation or deception.
