Elections Declared Impossible in Almost All Areas of Momauk and Mansi Townships in Kachin State

In Kachin State, it has been officially announced that elections cannot be held in nearly all areas of both Momauk Township and Mansi Township.

Momauk Township and Mansi Township are currently under the control of the Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA). Despite this, the military election commission had previously announced plans to hold elections in both townships.

According to a statement released by the military council on 28 December, elections will not be held in wards and villages within Momauk Township and Mansi Township.

The KIO/KIA has also announced that it will not permit elections to be held in areas under its control.
