Security checkpoints along the Myitkyina-Mandalay road have been tightened by the military council, and travel is only permitted within limited time frames, causing difficulties for the public in transporting goods, according to sources.
The military council is reportedly carrying out strict inspections along the route, seizing goods being transported by civilians and holding them for extended periods. As a result, some goods have spoiled and been damaged, creating serious hardships for the public.
In addition, certain goods are not permitted to be transported at all, and due to spoilage and restrictions, some areas are experiencing shortages as goods are no longer able to enter. The time limited travel restrictions have also made journeys difficult for travelers.
Passengers with urgent travel needs have been stranded on the road for long periods, while perishable goods have been damaged, leading to financial losses. It is also reported that travelers are required to pay various fees at the checkpoints.
