Sagaing Region, Indaw Township Residents report that Naba Model Village has been without electricity since August 25, 2024, when joint KIA/PDF forces entered and took control of Naba.
Yesterday, in an effort to restore power, village electricity committees and local residents cleared overgrown vegetation between utility poles and repaired damaged power lines.
“Now, they’re collecting 50,000 kyat per household, saying the transformer needs to be replaced. They said the transformer at the Naba junction substation burned out this summer. Some people are contributing 50,000 kyat per household, but others don’t really believe it,” said Ko Than Oo (name changed). He added, “Neighboring village has electricity, but only Naba is left out.”
By August 25 this year, Naba Model Village will have been without electricity for a full year.
