In Nammar Nansalaw village, Mohnyin Township, farmers are expressing concern because unexploded large shells remain in the fields.

“Around the fields where the shells landed, we cannot find exactly where they are. The rice harvest is coming at the end of this week, and we worry that when harvesting with machines, they might be hit and explode. Last year, we didn’t know the many shells fired by the Nammar militia hadn’t exploded and were still in the fields. At the time of harvest, machines accidentally hit one and it exploded, causing injuries. We are worried the same thing will happen again,” said a farmer from Nansalaw village.

On August 18, a clash took place between Military Council soldiers and K-PDF members on Nammar Nankham Road. Two Military Council soldiers were killed, and two were captured by K-PDF.Following this incident, heavy shelling by the Nammar militia continued for two days, hitting the village and causing injuries. Locals report that many shells landed in the fields but did not explode and remain there.

Currently, at the top of Nammar Nansalaw village, Military Council soldiers from Battalion 33 who are reported to have used drugs are stationed. They strictly check and monitor civilians passing through the area.
