Fatalities Reported After Shooting Near Yuma Village, Hpakant

Locals from Yuma village in Hpakant reported that a shooting incident near the Shwe Myanmar gas station at the entrance of the village resulted in the deaths of two people.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on July 12. According to eyewitnesses, one of the deceased was believed to be a jade trader from the Hpakant area.

“The person who died was driving a car and had a lot of money in his wallet. It's better not to go out at night during times like these. If something happens, no one will take responsibility,” said a witness.

The deceased was identified as U Brang Mun. Family members are still being contacted, and posts have been made in Hpakant-related social media groups seeking information.

Additionally, another person was found dead on the roadside near the same Shwe Myanmar gas station, lying face down on the road.

Some local residents said the two victims were killed by gunfire during clashes between the military council and joint KIA/KPDF forces on the night of July 12.
