Fierce Fighting Continues in Bhamaw

In Bhamaw town, Kachin State, the battle to seize the town has reignited fiercely since August 24 and, as of now, heavy clashes are still ongoing.

On August 24, fighting broke out between the allied KIA forces and the junta troops at the position of the junta’s armored battalion and Infantry Battalion (236). On August 25, the junta launched drone attacks, leading to even more intense clashes.

At present, heavy fighting is reported to be taking place daily around Infantry Battalion (21), Artillery Battalion (336), near the airport, and in some parts of Bhamaw town itself.

It is also reported that the junta has been reinforcing its manpower, weapons, and ammunition not only in Bhamaw but also in the Hpakant area, carrying out continuous assaults. In addition to Bhamaw, junta forces are indiscriminately bombarding with aircraft, heavy artillery, and drones in Hpakant and Waimaw townships, causing extensive damage to civilians, religious and residential buildings.
