Fighting remains intense in the Hpakant-Lone Khin area as KIA joint forces are defending against advancing military council troops that marched toward the Hpakant, Seng Tawng area, according to sources.
More than 300 military council troops have reportedly taken positions in buildings and locations including the golf course, hotels, and other structures in Lone Khin village after advancing from Maw Si Sar. They are carrying out attacks toward revolutionary force positions, while the revolutionary forces continue defensive operations.
The revolutionary forces are reportedly defending with drone attacks, while artillery support has continuously been fired from the Hpakant strategic hill. As a result, the military is said to have suffered heavy casualties during the clashes, and around 15 military council soldiers were reportedly captured alive.
Currently, clashes between both sides and military tensions continue to escalate in Lone Khin village. Due to daily artillery shelling and attacks, civilian casualties, deaths, and the burning and destruction of homes and buildings have also been reported.
The KIA joint forces are reportedly attempting to retake positions lost during April, while the Kamaing-Nam Ya road, which military council forces are using to reinforce and transport troops, remains blocked.
