Fighting Escalates Between SAC Forces and KIA Allies Near Seng Hpra and Kap Maw Zup on Myitkyina-Hpakant Route

Heavy combat continues between State Administration Council (SAC) forces and allied troops of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in KIA’s Brigade 9 operational zone along the Hpakant roadway, sources report.

As of May 8, sustained clashes were ongoing between KIA joint forces and SAC military units in the vicinity of Seng Hpra and Kap Maw Zup villages on the Myitkyina-Hpakant road.

On May 7, KIA fighters ambushed SAC troops during their advance toward Kap Maw Zup village, triggering intense fighting. By evening, SAC forces had moved into Seng Hpra village, where they remain deployed.

Reports indicate SAC troops employed airstrikes, drone attacks, and artillery fire during the engagements, leading to extensive damage to civilian properties.
