Due to continuous rainfall, the water level in Laiza stream has risen and flooded into the town, causing significant difficulties in transportation and public anxiety.
"A month of persistent rain has hit Laiza, with last week seeing the heaviest downpours yet. This morning at 10 a.m., floodwaters came downhill from Woi Chyai, inundating low lying areas," reported a resident from Laiza.
Currently, ward 3 and 5 in Woi Chyai, Hka Chyang and Laiza are experiencing flooding, making travel extremely difficult, according to reports.
Locals describe the Laiza stream as located on the China border where multiple mountain streams converge, quickly swelling during heavy rainfall.
Previously, on August 4, heavy rain in the Je Yang area caused the river to flood, impacting over 400 homes and resulting in 6 deaths, while numerous roads were destroyed.
