Starting from around 2:00 a.m. today, August 4, severe flooding from the Je Yang Stream has affected several villages: Sut Mu Aung, Je Yang, Hpun Lum Yang, Ja Htu Kaung, and Mung Sai Yang, causing extensive damage to many homes and displacing local residents.
Although some individuals reportedly went missing in the floodwaters, and many houses have been damaged, Pajau Media is still investigating to determine the exact number of affected people and the extent of the damage.
Due to the heavy flooding, the bridge between Laiza and Mung Sai Yang has been submerged, making transportation difficult. Landslides have also blocked roads between Laiza and Mai Ja Yang, further hampering movement in the region.
According to some locals, the current flooding situation is ongoing, and the roads leading out of Laiza to the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps are now blocked.
Pajau Media will continue to investigate and report on the full details of the situation.
