It has been reported that fighting is ongoing in Katha town, and airstrikes by the military continue in succession.

A civilian who fled from Katha town said, "Almost all the locals in Katha have fled. People are running everywhere, and the planes keep dropping bombs continuously. There is no warning given to the civilians, so when it happens suddenly, they can’t even take anything with them. Everything is left behind."

Currently, in Katha area, people are taking shelter at Kh.M.Y(309), Police Station No. 1, Police Station No. 2, Katha Prison, and some private houses.

On January 2, an airstrike also hit Ward 5 in Katha, causing civilian homes to catch fire and the Katha High School to be destroyed.

"The civilians are struggling. Most are fleeing northward. Many have no money. Some are running toward Mandalay," the person further stated. It is also reported that the military, unable to conduct ground attacks, has intensified airstrikes from the air.

Military tension in the Katha area has been rising since December 26, following attacks by local defense forces on the 28th during the election period.

From December 31, Katha locals have started fleeing, and resistance forces have begun active operations within the town.
