Due to the continuous rise in fuel prices across Myanmar, highway bus ticket prices have increased more than before, according to statements from passengers.
Vehicle operators have estimated that if fuel prices continue to rise, highway bus ticket prices may increase further. As ticket prices continue to climb, travelers are facing growing difficulties in covering transportation costs.
At present, a bus ticket from Myitkyina to Mandalay has reached 170,000 kyats, while a ticket from Myitkyina to Yangon has risen to 235,000 kyats.
Ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East have contributed to the continuous increase in global fuel prices, which is also affecting Myanmar. The fuel prices set by the military council in Myanmar are reportedly increasing week by week.
Currently, the fuel prices set by the military council are as follows:
92 Octane: 2,830 kyats per liter
95 Octane: 2,930 kyats per liter
Diesel: 3,205 kyats per liter
Premium Diesel: 3,560 kyats per liter
However, in reality, the price of 92 Octane fuel has risen as high as 9,500 kyats per liter.
