According to local residents, gambling venues have started opening competitively not only in the outskirts but also within the town of Myitkyina, Kachin State.
In addition to Aye Zedi and Tatkone wards, and other areas, more than 50 gambling venues have reportedly opened, featuring various gambling games such as dice, fish hunting games, and other electronic games
under the banners of boxing matches and various performances.
“One of the main causes of thefts, robberies, and violent crimes is these gambling dens,” said one local resident.
With the proliferation of these gambling dens, security in Myitkyina has decreased, and violent crimes, illegal activities, and thefts have increased, forcing residents to remain cautious when moving around.
Not only in the outskirts but also within the town, the opening of gambling dens has led residents to report the matter to the township authorities, but no one has taken responsibility or action to address it, according to sources.
