Global Report Highlights Rising Suicides Among Myanmar's Youth Amid Conflict

In Myanmar, the number of people who have taken their own lives reached up to 86 within 2025, according to DVB News. Most of the individuals are aged between 19 and 25. After experiencing ongoing battles, airstrikes, family separations due to conflict, and injuries, many young people are increasingly choosing to end their lives, the report notes.


The majority of those who commit suicide are male, accounting for about 80 percent, while females make up about 20 percent. According to World Health Organization data on armed forces, nearly eight hundred thousand people die each year due to suicide related to conflict, and among those who have endured war, about one in five experience various mental health challenges.


Advice provided includes maintaining ongoing communication with family and trusted friends, seeking guidance from supportive individuals, engaging in physical activities, and consuming healthy foods and adequate sleep. It emphasizes the importance of seeking professional assistance when needed.
