Heavy Fighting Resumes in Waimaw Area

According to sources, renewed and intense clashes have been taking place since early this morning in the Waimaw-Lamyang area of Kachin State.Troops of the military council are launching offensives in the Waimaw-Lamyang region as well as in the Lang Se area in order to ensure the holding of elections.

Although the military council has officially announced that elections cannot be conducted throughout Sawlaw Township in Kachin State, it is reported that offensives are currently being carried out in the area, including Lang Se and its surroundings.

The election commission has declared that elections cannot be held in Chipwi, Sawlaw, Sumprabum, and Njang Yang townships of Kachin State. However, reports indicate that, in reality, joint offensives are being carried out by the military council and allied militia forces in these township areas.
