The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has announced that heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected this week, from June 30 to July 6, across various states and regions, including Kachin State.
Due to a low-pressure area, almost the entire country is likely to experience heavy rain, and there may also be river flooding and other natural disasters, according to the warning.
Along with heavy rainfall, there may be strong winds, lightning strikes, thunderstorms, localized heavy downpours, hail, flash floods, and landslides. Therefore, the public is advised to be especially cautious and take extra care.
In Kachin State, starting from today, June 30, there have already been reports of heavy rainfall in some areas. According to Meteorologist U Naing Lin Htwe, the water level of the Ayeyarwady River in Myitkyina is currently at 664 centimeters (about 22 feet), approaching the danger level of 1,200 centimeters, based on yesterday’s measurements.
