Early this morning, around 1:00 AM on September 9, a heavy artillery shell fired from Hpakant Strategic Hill exploded upon impact, injuring seven civilians from Bazan Chauk and Seng Tawng villages, according to a local resident of Hpakant.

 "During midnight, when people were sleeping, they intentionally and deliberately targeted areas where civilians live. Artillery shells fell near Bazan Chauk, Seng Tawng, and in front of the Chinese communal hall. The shell that landed in front of the communal hall did not cause human casualties, but shells that exploded in other areas injured seven people. Among them, Daw Myint Myint Thin from Bazanchauk suffered severe facial injuries," a Hpakant civilian said.

Due to the military council's heavy weapon attack, the injured civilians include:

Daw Myint Myint Thin (45 years old) from Bazun Chaung village, who sustained severe facial injuries;

 U Win Myint (50 years old), whose right hand was hit by shrapnel;

 U Khaing Myat Oo (39 years old), whose left arm was hit by shrapnel.

Similarly, from Seng Tawng Ward (4):

U Lan Ching (40 years old) and

Daw Phyu Phyu Win (42 years old) were hit in the waist by shrapnel.

From Seng Tawng Ward (3):

Maung Myo (32 years old) was hit on the right side of the waist by shrapnel; and Zaw Win (45 years old) was hit in the right hand by shrapnel.

The seven heavy artillery shells fired from Hpakant Strategic Hill landed and exploded in six locations, including Bazan Chauk, Seng Tawng Wards 3 and 4, and in front of the Chinese communal hall, according to local residents.

Local residents also stated that the military council troops from Hpakant Strategic Hill in Kachin State have been continuously and intentionally targeting areas where civilian populations live with heavy weapons.
