Roads and bridges in the Hopín area of Kachin State have been destroyed and blocked by joint forces of the Military Council and the SNA, causing serious difficulties for local residents’ mobility, according to local sources.
On 26 November, the joint troops of the Military Council and the SNA dug up and destroyed the road and bridge connecting Hopín to Ding Lung Pa village, cutting off transportation and severely restricting residents’ movement.
Locals report that the recently destroyed main road was the primary route they relied on for travel in the area.
In addition, in Nam Yang village, joint forces of the Military Council and the SNA reportedly looted goods from inside residents’ shops and also set fire to some of the shop buildings.
Residents say they are increasingly worried that clashes could break out, as the joint forces in the Hopín area have been conducting intensified military activities, including stopping and questioning civilians on the road and looting household items from villagers’ homes.
