Hpakant-Karmine-Nam Ya Road Not Officially Reopened, but Large and Small Vehicles Are Traveling

Although the Hpakant–Karmine–Nam Ya road section in Kachin State has not been officially reopened, both large and small vehicles are reportedly traveling along the route, according to local residents from Hpakant.

The Hpakant–Karmine–Nam Ya road section had been indefinitely closed by the Kachin Independence Army on April 22 due to the military situation.

However, because the road section is currently under the control of the military, cargo trucks, large and small vehicles, and local civilians have reportedly begun traveling again since May 12 with permission from the military junta authorities.

At the same time, the military junta is also conducting military offensives along the Hpakant–Nam Ya road with large troop deployments. As a result, clashes between the two sides are reportedly continuing to occur daily in the Hpakant area.
