Maw Wan Kale Village in Hpakant was reportedly burned down and destroyed by a joint force of the military council and allied militia groups.
According to local residents, at around 2 a.m. on May 20, military council troops set fire to civilian homes in Maw Wan Kale Village, Hpakant.
The exact number of houses destroyed by the fire is still unknown. Local residents said that only military council troops and allied militia forces are currently stationed in the village, and civilians are not being allowed to enter the area to inspect the damage.
In addition, residents said that the military council and allied militia groups looted and stole valuable belongings from civilians before carrying out the arson attack.
At present, local residents from Maw Wan Kale Village have fled to various safe locations due to ongoing clashes and displacement, while the village itself remains occupied by military council troops and militia forces.
