The houses of the innocent residents of Tamahkan Village, Hpakant Township, Kachin State in the area of KIA Brigade (9) were burned to ashes yesterday (March 3rd) at around 8:30 AM by the SAC forces of about 80 reinforcements who came to the Tamahkan (Infantry Battalion – 119) military camp.
A local resident who had to flee told Pajau Media that, almost the entire village left the village and fled, after the news spread in the village that the SAC would shoot every single person if they saw in the village.
“On the 26th of February, the entire village fled when they heard that the SAC said that they would shoot if they saw people in the village. Some of them who are not afraid, stayed as caretakers in their houses. But they also fled from the village the next day. There are no longer people living from Tamahkan Village to Haung Par Village. All of them fled to Shin Ma Na Village, Nant Pa Hote Village and Shwe Thaung Kyaw near the village of Wai Seng Ja Village, Maw Thit, Maw Haung and Nam Hkam Maw. Some stayed at their close relatives’ houses and some stayed at the monasteries. And there are also some people who stayed in the forests with tents.”

Until last February 29, the local residents were allowed to enter the village and to take the things that they left at home, but they were not allowed to stay longer there. From March 1, they were not allowed to enter the village and only exits were allowed.
The burnt neighborhoods were the Wards along the Main Road such as Ward (1), Ward (2), Ward (3), Ward (4) and the houses along the Nawarett grocery store in Ward (5) have been set on fire too.
“I heard that our house was burnt too, because it is in Ward (3). As of yesterday, more than 60 houses have been burnt and people are saying that the village looked like a big field right now due to the burns,” a villager who fled told Pajau Media.
According to the latest news today on March 4th, the house fire in the village has been extinguished. But at about 9:50 AM today, the places near the Tamahkan Monastery in the village were attacked by air strikes.
