Human Rights Violations Committed by the Military Council in Kachin State During June

According to a statement released yesterday by the Ministry of Human Rights, there were 36 cases of human rights violations committed by the military council in Kachin State during the month of June. As a result of airstrikes, up to 50 civilian homes were destroyed.
Within the one-month period there were 6 airstrikes. Due to these airstrikes, 2 Christian religious buildings and 1 Buddhist religious building were destroyed. 5 people were killed and 34 others were injured.
Nationwide, the military council committed up to 532 cases of human rights violations, including extrajudicial killings, destruction of personal property, forced labor, arbitrary arrests, forced displacement, torture, restrictions on freedom of movement and expression, and destruction of religious buildings.
Additionally, there were 114 cases of extrajudicial killings, making it the most common type of violation, while 115 other violations were also recorded. These include attacks on civilians with heavy weapons and airstrikes in non-conflict areas.
