In the Inddaw Gyi area of Kachin State, residents of Nant Mun town and Mai Nawng village are reportedly being forced by the SNA Militia to send one person from each household to attend military training.
“A group led mainly by Shan Ni has opened training courses in Nant Mun and Mai Nawng, and people are being required to send one member per household,” a local resident who wished to remain anonymous told reporters.
According to reports, joint forces comprising the No. 33 Military Division under the junta forces and the Shan Ni National Army (SNA) are coercing civilians in the Inddaw Gyi area to send one member from each household to attend training. Newly rounded up recruits are being sent to Nant Mun and Mai Nawng to receive military instruction. Those attending the training include young people, middle aged individuals, and also women.
Currently, the training period is said to last about three months and is being conducted at SNA occupied military bases in Nant Mun and Mai Nawng. The exact number of trainees is not known.
Since May this year, SNA and junta troops have reportedly set up checkpoints at Lone Tun, Nant Mun’s entrances and exits, and along the Inddaw Gyi–Gwihka road. They have been stopping and detaining young people and forcing them, under the “one person per household” rule, to join the SNA Militia.
