In Moenyin, SNA Continues Daily Forced Recruitment, Entering Homes to Seize Youths

In Moenyin, local residents report that the SNA (Shan National Army) has been carrying out daily forced recruitment of young people since July 20, even entering homes to seize individuals.
At around 8 a.m. yesterday (July 22), the SNA forcibly recruited two young men from Nan Hlaing village, entering their home to do so. Reports indicate that today alone, more than 20 young people have already been forcibly taken for recruitment.
On July 21, the SNA also seized 12 youths while they were playing chinlone near a field 2 youths from Hailone village, 8 youths near a shop at the East Sule road junction, 2 youths at the exit of Thegyi Tawng village, and 2 more at a restaurant. Additionally, on July 20, around 50 youths were reportedly forcibly recruited in Biluu town.
The majority of the forcibly recruited individuals are between 18 and 27 years old and are said to be transported to Myitkyina for military training, according to sources close to the SNA.
The SNA began this intensified forced recruitment after seizing villages in the Intawgyi area, territory previously under KIA (Kachin Independence Army) control on July 16, citing control over Shanni territories.
It is also reported that those who were previously recruited in April 2025 had to undergo military training in Nan Mun, with ages ranging from as young as 12 years old to as old as 55.
