In the City of Myitkyina, Passerby People are Often Robbed and Inspected

Kachin State according to residents of Myitkyina, there have been frequent robberies in Myitkyina since the beginning of February.


Last February 4th in Sitapu Ward, a passerby' car and cash more than 4,000,000 MMK and the other one on 6th, more than 8,000,000 MMK cash, were forcibly confiscated after a knife attack.


According to a man who was robbed with a knife on his neck on February 4th

"What happened was around 10:30 p.m. on February 4th when three soldiers stopped my car. They asked me what was in the car and asked me to get out of the car. When they saw the money in my car, they asked where the money came from. They asked me that I was going to support PDF with the money. I told them that I was a salesperson. I explained that the money collected for the materials had not yet been submitted to the office, but they did not accept it, and they confiscated all the money because they insisted that the money would support the PDF." He said.


The above person is from Sitapu Ward, He said that while he was driving at Japan Bridge Road on February 4 at around 10:00 p.m., three soldiers of the Military Council stopped him and checked him and forcibly confiscated the 40,000,000 yen in cash he was carrying in the car.


The soldiers who seized the money were said to be wearing full military uniforms and carrying weapons.


The soldiers claimed that the money found during inspection were to support the PDFs and they forcibly confiscated them. He said that the military council soldiers often check the Japan Bridge road with around 8 soldiers.


In addition, on the 6th of February around 4:00 p.m., a passerby's car and more than 8,000,000 MMK cash were robbed at the intersection of B.E.H.S (5) Road in Sitapu Ward.
