The junta continues to conduct security inspections within Myitkyina city, and it has been reported that at Balamin Htin Bridge, authorities are actively checking and questioning people by seizing their phones.

“Inspections at Balamin Htin Bridge happen every day. They stop motorcycles and cars for checks. But recently, they’ve started focusing mainly on phones. Just this week, two female staff members from the Waimaw-Garayang area were arrested. It’s said that soldiers found photos of them wearing military uniforms on their phones. We haven’t been able to contact them, and there’s been no news since. People are saying they were taken away,” said a local source.

Residents stated that the junta has been checking citizens’ phones for communications and content related to resistance activities, leading to arrests and torture of those suspected. Locals warned that people should be cautious, ensure their phone security, and move carefully when traveling.

Such arrests and inspections have already occurred twice at Balamin Htin Bridge. Security forces there are said to conduct detailed body searches of suspicious individuals and even make them walk to observe their gestures and behavior.

Since seizing power, the junta has issued orders to arrest anyone suspected of supporting or assisting resistance forces, and such operations continue to this day.

Earlier this October, a woman suspected of financially supporting PDF forces in 2022 was arrested while crossing Balamin Htin Bridge. She remains detained to date.

It is also reported that authorities have begun checking KPay account transfer and withdrawal records following these arrests.
