Intense clashes are ongoing between both sides in Indaw Township and Mawlu Town, located on the border of Kachin State and Sagaing Region, while the military continues carrying out repeated aerial bombing attacks, according to sources.

Since May 20, fighting has broken out between the KIA joint forces and the military commission troops in Indaw and Mawlu towns along the Shwebo-Myitkyina road, and the military situation remains tense up to the present time.

During the intense clashes, military commission forces carried out aerial bombing attacks on villages near the Shwebo–Myitkyina road and around Mawlu Town. As a result, two civilians were killed and injured yesterday, on May 21.

In addition, starting from around 9 a.m. today, May 22, the military commission reportedly launched further bombing attacks using Y-12 aircraft and jet fighters in areas toward Kanpetlet within Indaw Township.

The military council is continuously carrying out military operations in an attempt to fully regain control of the Shwebo–Myitkyina road and has also instructed bus stations not to use the Shwebo–Myitkyina highway route for travel.
