Intense Clashes Ongoing in Mohnyin Township

In recent days, intense clashes have been breaking out across village areas beyond Mohnyin town between the SNA, the joint military forces of the junta, and the joint forces of the KIA.

On August 18, near Nammar town in Mohnyin, a patrol vehicle carrying five policemen was attacked by KPDF forces, leaving two policemen dead and three others injured.

Following the attack, the military responded by indiscriminately shelling from the 409th artillery unit and heavy weapons, which caused the death of a 60-year-old woman.

Currently, due to the intensified clashes in the Mohnyin, Mugawng, and Hpakant areas, transportation has become very difficult. Locals are also forced to move cautiously, being mindful of heavy weapons, drone strikes, and landmines.

In addition, battles are still ongoing in Mamung Kai and Mai Nawng areas of Mohnyin Township. As the military continues its strong resistance, it remains difficult for either side to achieve complete control, according to reports.
