Intense Fighting Continues in Hpakant–Lone Hkin Area

Intense clashes have continued in the Hpakant–Lone Hkin village area since around 7:00 PM yesterday, May 6, between the military council forces and the KIA allied forces, with continuous sounds of heavy and small arms fire reported by local residents.

Although gunfire had slightly subsided during the morning hours yesterday, heavy and small arms fire was heard again after 7:00 PM, leading to renewed direct clashes between the two sides.

In addition, artillery shelling was reportedly fired from the Hpakant military base in support of the ground operations. At around 8:00 PM, a shell landed and exploded in a residential house, causing civilian casualties.

Similarly, today from around 6:00 AM, continuous exchanges of gunfire have been heard, indicating ongoing intense fighting, while artillery shelling from the military base is still continuing.
