Intense clashes broke out this morning after junta allied forces launched a renewed offensive in areas surrounding Lamyang Village along the Waingmaw–Lamyang axis in Kachin State, according to sources.
“The junta and pro military militia forces advanced with large numbers, and fighting has been taking place around the Lamyang area for about two or three days now,” said a local resident living near Lamyang Village.
The junta forces are currently advancing toward the Nmyen Hka area on the western side of Lamyang Village, which is under the control of joint forces led by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA).
Fighting in the Lamyang area had remained relatively calm until the end of 2025. However, due to the large scale offensive launched by junta allied forces, clashes have intensified again during this January, sources said.
Meanwhile, junta-allied forces are not only conducting offensives around Waingmaw-Lamyang Village but are also launching military operations in other parts of Kachin State, including Hpakant, Bhamaw, and Putao townships, according to reports.
