Intensified Clashes in Hpakant Force Mass Displacement of Residents

It is reported that in the Hpakant region, continuous clashes have been taking place between the KIA and the military council forces, while the Junta army has been launching successive large scale assaults, causing the majority of local residents to flee.
As fighting has intensified almost daily across Hpakant, most residents have fled towards Myitkyina as displaced persons. On the morning of September 16, local residents from Mashi Kahtawng village were also beginning to move towards Myitkyina for safety.
Since 8 p.m. on September 15, clashes broke out between the KIA and the military around Hpakant-Sharaw Hka area, while artillery fire was launched from Hpakant Tatmakone to support the attack.In an effort to regain control of the Hpakant area, the military council has been conducting assaults using multiple methods.
On September 15, a convoy of five military vehicles advanced into Hpakant and is currently reported to have reached Nam Ya village.Similarly, in the Bhamaw and Waimaw areas, the military continues to reinforce and launch aggressive offensives, resulting in escalating clashes. Reports indicate that the army is still carrying out continuous attacks using airstrikes, drones, and heavy artillery.
