In Putao District’s Hkawnglanghpu Township, following a series of attacks and takeovers of military and local Militia camps by resistance forces, the junta army has been reinforcing and supplying its troops in the area daily with helicopters in recent days, according to local sources.

“Recently, they say the military command itself is stationed in Hkawnglanghpu and has been strengthening its forces. Since about four of their camps fell, helicopters have been coming continuously for over a week now,” said a local resident from Hkawnglanghpu.

Since the last week of October, junta helicopters have reportedly been arriving twice daily to Hkawnglanghpu, transporting military equipment and reinforcements. Locals also said that airstrikes have been conducted in the area.

As a result, most local civilians and villagers have fled into nearby forests and mountains for safety, while others remain watching the unfolding military situation, the local source added.

“They are trying to advance from Kaunglanphu toward Lanse. The junta’s air forces from the Putao command have been continuously launching airstrikes and bombings. Many villagers from that side have now fled into the forests. We don’t know what will happen next,” the source said.

Due to phone and internet disruptions, detailed information about the exact number of displaced villages and people, as well as the extent of damage caused by the airstrikes and ongoing clashes, remains unclear, and Pajau Media is still investigating the situation.

Locals also stated that after the closure of the Putao-Myitkyina road, the intensity of military activity in the Hkawnglanghpu area has noticeably increased.
