Residents report that throughout November, the military council’s fighter jets and helicopters have been flying repeatedly over Putao-Hkawng Lang Hpu and Sumpra Bum townships, as well as along the Myitkyina road, carrying out continuous aerial bombardments and attacks, causing deep fear among local people.
On the afternoon of November 25, a military jet flew along the Myitkyina highway, dropping bombs from the air on Wadat village, which local residents had already fled.
Locals say that within the month of November alone, there have been no fewer than 10 airstrikes carried out in Putao District.
According to residents, both the military council and alied local Militia have reinforced their troops toward Hkawng Lang Hpu Township, with increased offensive operations toward the Lang Se region. Daily aerial support and supplies of weapons and ammunition have also intensified.
Residents add that after reports emerged that a military strategist himself was leading the offensive operation toward Hkawng Lang Hpu Township, joint aerial attacks toward the Putao area have now escalated in this manner.
