It has been reported that the Myanmar military junta and its allied SNA (Shanni Nationalities Army) forces have launched a renewed offensive on Bamauk Town, located on the Kachin-Sagaing border, forcing resistance forces to withdraw from several villages.
Resistance forces reportedly retreated from Kha Mu Village and Zet Taw Village near Bamauk Town. Fierce clashes between the two sides continue in the surrounding areas, with resistance forces still putting up strong defensive fights.
The joint resistance forces had earlier attacked and temporarily seized control of Bamauk Town on September 20, but junta and SNA aligned troops began counteroffensives on October 4, launching continuous attacks since then.
According to reports, junta allied forces are now conducting intense assaults to regain full control of Bamauk Town, employing airstrikes as part of their operations. Large numbers of troops from Light Infantry Division 33, based in Hpakant area, together with SNA units, are taking part in the offensive.
