According to a high school teacher in Myitkyina, the Kachin State government has arranged for students from government schools who will be retaking the university entrance exams-postponed due to the recent earthquake-to be accommodated in camps and provided with close supervision and instruction.

“I’m not sure what the private schools are doing, but for students from government schools, they are being housed in camps within the school premises and are receiving intensive instruction there. The government is also providing all necessities at the school,” the teacher said.

It is reported that government school students have been staying in these school-based camps and receiving close instruction from teachers since May 5, as they prepare for the upcoming rescheduled exams.

Additionally, students from other areas such as Bhamo, Tanai, and Chipwi who have arrived in Myitkyina are also being accommodated in camps and provided with close instruction.

On March 28, a powerful earthquake in Myanmar caused the main building of Mandalay University to collapse and catch fire. As a result, over 400,000 answer sheets from G-12 students in Mandalay, Sagaing, Naypyitaw, and Kachin State were destroyed in the fire.

Therefore, for students in the affected regions whose answer sheets were burned, the 2025 university entrance exams will be reconducted as scheduled from June 16 to June 21.
