It has been learned from military sources that the KIA allied forces have recaptured the military bases at Mai Nawng village and Mamung Kai village in the Inddaw Gyi area of Kachin State, which had previously fallen from their control.

On August 16, the KIA allied forces launched an assault to seize back the military bases held jointly by the Military Council troops and the Shan Nationalities Army (SNA), which was operating together with them, in Main Nawng and Mamung Kai.

Beginning at around 5:40 a.m. on August 16, the KIA allied forces, under the No. (9) Military Operations Command, began their counteroffensive and managed to fully capture the bases on that same day.

Although the Military Council used airstrikes to support its defense during the clashes, the KIA allied forces managed to completely overrun and seize the two bases, according to reports.

Both Mai Nawng and Mamung Kai villages had fallen into the hands of the Military Council and its allied forces on July 15, but on August 16, part of those positions were retaken by the KIA allied troops through their counterattack. It is also reported that clashes remain intense between the two sides up until now.

Similarly, along the Hpakant-Nam Ya road, the Military Council has been conducting offensives with around 500 troops, leading to continued fighting with the KIA allied forces and intensifying military tensions. Fierce battles are also reported to continue in the Bhamo area.
