It has been reported that combined forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) launched an attack and successfully seized the State Administration Council (SAC) troops stationed at Prayer Mountain near Lawa Village on the Myitkyina-Hpakant road on May 2.
A local resident near Lawa Village confirmed to Pajau Media yesterday, "The news is true. There are 13 dead bodies of SAC soldiers, and one was captured alive."
The KIA-led allied forces began their assault on May 1 against the SAC troops and the pro-junta Pyusawhti militia stationed at Lawa Prayer Mountain, ultimately capturing the position by May 2 after intense fighting.
Clashes between the two sides have been fierce in the Lawa Village area since early April. According to local sources, SAC troops have burned and destroyed civilian homes, leaving over 200 houses damaged.
