Three military junta bases stationed in the Hpakant area have been captured by joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), according to sources.
During clashes that occurred on April 2, KIA joint forces attacked and seized three junta bases located near a phone tower in Maw Wan Gyi village, near a cemetery in Nma Yang village, and at Ntawng Naw Hill.
After losing these three bases, the military junta reportedly carried out intense attacks throughout the following day using airstrikes and heavy artillery in the Hpakant area.
The bases that were recaptured had previously been lost by KIA joint forces in late 2025, and were retaken on April 2.
Fighting had been relatively calm in the Hpakant area for over a month, but clashes resumed on April 2. Due to artillery fire from both sides, explosions occurred in Maw Wan Gyi, Nma Yang, and some nearby wards. As a result, six people were injured, including two minors.
