Despite ongoing military tensions across Myanmar, the military council has already held Phase One of the election. In connection with this election, KIO leader General N’Ban La has stated that each individual vote cast could bring change for the public, and therefore people must remain vigilant and observe carefully.

In his remarks, KIO Chairperson General N’Ban La said that the military commission and the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) are determined to legitimize the 2008 Constitution, which is why they are pushing to hold the election at all costs.

For this reason, he said, people must carefully watch and remain alert as to whether the single vote they cast will shape a change in destiny for the public.

He further stated that the military council is worried that revolutionary forces will unite and grow stronger, and therefore is engaging in divisive tactics among ethnic groups. In this context, he urged people to remain mindful and clearly recognize who is an enemy and who is a friend.
